There have even been sightings of turtles and platypus at the falls and you may even be able to see some on your visit if you are lucky enough.

The Ellinjaa Falls walk

There is some good news for people who do not like hiking; the walk down is not strenuous at all. You will have to walk down some big steps and in total it will take you around 5 min. There is no excuse not to see this waterfall even if it is for a quick stop off.

The views on the way down are covered in lush greenery and overlooking trees. You will more likely than not spot a few lizards stuttering about and the odd bird tweeting. Not to mention the cheeky roosters.

Caution, the track can be slippery when wet.
What to expect at Ellinjaa Falls

As you get to the bottom you will notice there are a lot of rocks and stones at the base of the falls. The waterfall can be quite powerful, as we have seen online for ourselves.

However, for us, the waterfall wasn’t as powerful as it could be because it hadn’t rained for a while. Even so, we don’t think you would be able to swim in this waterfall as the area where the water plunges into is quite shallow; it is more of a waterfall to admire from a distance.

Word has it is that there are turtles and platypus there too, we weren’t as lucky to find such creatures but maybe you will be.
Since Ellinjaa Falls is close to other waterfalls such as Millaa Millaa Waterfall and Zillie Falls, it is worth doing a whole day tour. The Atherton Tablelands waterfall circuit is perfect to do all in one day and seeing other beautiful falls in the area.

TOP TIPS
- Arrive early morning to get the sun rays beaming through the bushes
- No need for hiking boots sandals/sliders/trainers/runners will be fine
- Watch out when getting closer to the waterfall as the rocks can be slippery
