Aling Aling Waterfall in Bali is highly sort after from tourists. If you have searched the internet and especially Instagram for pictures associated with the Aling Aling Waterfall we’re sure you’ve been impressed.
Impressive though it may be, it can be a bit confusing regarding the Aling Aling Waterfall entrance fee and how to get there. We’re going to clear all that up and simplify it all giving you the correct information to ensure all worry is out of the window.
Aling Aling Waterfall is also next door to Kroya Waterfall in Bali, which is another popular waterfall to check out. Be sure not to miss this one too.
Journey time to Aling Aling Waterfall

Aling Aling is located in North Bali in the Sambangan Secret Garden. Depending on traffic, from Ubud to Aling Aling Waterfall it will take around 2.5 h by car. Commuting from Canggu will be around 1.5h and from Denpasar around 3-4 hours. We recommend hiring a taxi or if you are a confident driver, rent a scooter and drive there yourself. If you arrive on a scooter, there is a big parking area, so there is no need to worry about parking.
More often than not, people tend to base themselves around Munduk. This makes the journey shorter and making the most of their day. By doing this you have more time to view other waterfalls. Such waterfalls include Sekumpul Waterfall, Gitgit Waterfall, Munduk Waterfall, Lebuhan Waterfall and Melanting Waterfall.

When using a scooter like most backpackers, you’ll need to download Offline Google Maps or use the Maps.me app for those times when you don’t have Internet.
If you’re renting a scooter make sure your travel insurance covers it and always ask for a helmet. Be sure to take pictures of the scooter beforehand for any damage so you don’t get blamed for any upon the return.
Aling Aling Waterfall price

The Aling Aling Waterfall price ranges from 20,000 – 500,000 IDR. As you reach the ticket desk you will see a big sign with various prices. Now, this is a bit confusing. The price varies depending on what you plan to do. What is for certain is that to swim, dive or slide in any of the waterfalls you need a tour guide. Not doing so may incur a 250,000 IDR fine.
For 20,000 IDR you can trek down and go see Aling Aling Waterfall yourself, but you are not permitted to swim or jump in it.
150,000 IDR provides you with an Aling Aling Waterfall tour guide and they grant you access to swim and jump off cliff edges in the waterfall. A life jacket is also provided if needed.
250,000 – 500,000 IDR Provides all the above with additional trekking throughout the area with your tour guide.
Now, regarding the fines, we don’t know who would issue these fines or how they would monitor it. We can only tell you the situation from our own experience and that is; It’s probably just a money-making scheme. Although, it also could be a health and safety issue, in case a tourist hurts themselves jumping off a cliff.
We did not see anyone of the like who would issue you a fine and once we bought the tickets no one checked them. We even had locals encouraging us to dive and swim in the water. However, use your own judgement and if you want to support the locals by using a tour guide, then by all means, do so.
Trekking down to Aling Aling Waterfall

The Aling Aling Waterfall hike down is not too bad. It will take you around 30 min to get to the bottom through the jungle. At the start of the trail is a big rice field, which when we were there, had colourful scarecrows scattered across protecting it.
The views are eye catching; there are other rice fields you pass with locals planting, harvesting or generally maintaining the fields. You will have to walk down a lot of steps so make sure you wear appropriate footwear, leave the sandals at home.
Aling Aling Waterfall in Bali

Aling Aling Waterfall is located only a 5 min walk away from Kroya Waterfall. Crashing down from a 35m cliff, it separates into 2 and joins as one at the bottom. This waterfall is quite powerful and we would not advise you to swim in the pool. Instead, enjoy the views from afar or get a little closer by walking down the stairs from the man-made platform.

For the adventures seekers, Aling Aling Waterfall flows downstream and meets Kroya Waterfall. This is where you can jump off cliff edges and slide down the natural waterslide.
